Stomach Problems

Have had a lifetime of stomach problems. I can remember being about 3 years old. And standing out in the back corner of our yard throwing up blood in the snow piles.

At about 8

I was selling newspapers in the middle of the busiest intersection going. There was a man who would buy 1 of each paper from me every morning. He had this big huge cigar all the time. One day he said to me..."You Are Sick Aren't You"?

I said YES.

Turns out he was a doctor. Invited me up to his office. To make a long story short ............... tests revealed I had Duodenal ulcers.

This has been going on all of my life. Unable to eat most things or drink most things. Went to a zillion specialists with little success. The one I go to now gives me Dexilant which does help a little bit.

Anyone else have stomach problems?

I have learned more about self help in this group than anywhere else.

Currently this is really a problem for me. Pain makes it worse. Ya know how they go together.

Only eating plain chicken off the grill no additives.

Scrambled eggs from the micro wave.

Small amounts of spinach, carrotts, mushrooms etc all cooked to a mush.

Anyone else going thru this?

I know so many people who have so many different stomach problems. I'm pretty lucky. Most people with CFS/ME and Fibromyalgia have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) which I do not have. I have a list of foods that...as my Mom used to say...I like them but they don't like me. I've been lactose intollerant since my 20's. I went through about 15 years where I was allergic to any kind of poultry. I still struggle with onions and any kind of fried foods. Then there's my problem with any kind of antibiotics. I'm dealing with that right now because of having to take them for the dental work.

I'm a big believer in natural remedies and one of my doctors told me to try licorice root extract. It helps me. There are other herbs and tinctures that work for some people but not others. It's a bit of a "hit or miss" kind of thing.

Oh, I also avoid GMO foods, meat and poultry treated with antibiotics, and eggs that aren't cage free or veggie fed. I usually go to one of the natural food stores but the last two times I bought my eggs at the supermarket. They taste like fish! I got spoiled with the veggie fed eggs.

How awfull so suffer so long.

I don't know if you've ever discussed Prebiotics with your Dr or if they would help you.  I don't take them but my dog does, it has reduced her episodes of nausea and hipcups.  She had valley fever and it really messed up her system.

The one I recommend is :  Now  Acacia Fiber organic and made in USA.     It acts as a fiber but also balances the flora in the gut.

Probably doesn't apply to you but i was surprised that wheat and other grains can turn to sugar quickly and cause more stomach acid, I used to have a lot of problems with GERD.

Hope your stomach settles soon.

What a lot of support for the stomach thank you soooooo much. Been going thru the in and out of action so much over this.

Been taking the licorice root for many years. You are right that does help some.

I also have the bowel syndrone had that one for a lifetime too.

We try many different health store things. There is a "Richards" nearby. My (pretty) wife goes in there all the time. Brings home all those kind of eggs you mention and many other similar things. She is there weekly.  They have Licorice Hard Candy that is a help for a  few minutes.

Have tried pro bioitics. Not much results with them.

The high level body pain brings the blood pressure up. Then it gets the stomach going. And the next thing you know DWB is missing from here for a while. This is the merry go round that is going on.

They have done so many tests its crazy. Nothing but the same old thing they been saying since age 8. Ulcers, acid reflux, inflamed stomach walls, the nerves in the stomach are very actively causing pain.

Thank you for the kind responses and offers of help

I tried copying others responses all in one loop below. Makes it easier to follow it.

PRE Biotics are active in your stomach and aide in digestion and can help with bloating, acid issues etc where as PRO biotics help more with the intestine end of things.

Have you ever tried ginger, I nibbled on candied ginger sometimes it helps probably like your licorice.

My Mom had some VERY bad stomach problems shortly before she passed.   It was related to her kidneys, I know you've dealt with this a long time but since you take Tylenol daily has your Dr checked your kidney functions with a blood test?

Hate to hear your pain is so much worse and you can't get off the pain cycle.  I know how that can be, thankfully I just loose my appetite and don't eat much when it happens.  Not real healthy but I drink protein shakes with fruits like bananas and apples.  I add powder pea protein which seems to agree the best.  Can't stand those pre-made drinks.

I will keep you in my thoughts.

Thank you Jenny your response was very helpful. The Pre-Biotics vs the Pro Biotics is something I never really understood. Going to try the Pre-Biotics.

Seems like you and I have a lot of similar problems. And when hooking up my Tens machine I think of you probably doing the same thing.

Found out recently that those little plugs where the wires connect to the suction cup leads can be a problem. Make sure you push them in tight before turning on the machine. I found out mine were not real tight. When pushing them in better the machine works soooooooooo much better.

Needed to let y'alls know why I keep being missing. It gets so bad I wind up out of action as they say until it calms down. When out of action even sipping on water makes me sick. I have ginger candies too they are helpful.

At Richards they have what's called:
Zot Organic Hard Candy.

Gluten Free

Black Licrice

These really are helping me at times.

Been also finding out drinking many glasses of "not cold" water is helping me. Doctor says it is rinsing way the acid.

Blood tests are showing all is well with the kidneys. All the blood tests are coming up ok.

The thing that has always calmed my stomach down the best for a few minutes is French Vanella Ice Cream.Smiley Very Happy

Wishing everyone pain and sickness free days.

((((((((((((((((((Gentle Hugs))))))))))))))))))))))))

Our group is back I am sooooo happy

Lets all let out a cheer

Ice Cream is always the best medicine 🙂 Just wondering though that since you have stomach acid issues that the sugar doesn't make it worse.
Always does with me, I have to avoid all simple carbs or foods that turn into sugar quickly like wheat breads when my tummy acts up as it "feeds" the bad bacteria.
Thankfully my stomach is nearly as bad as yours. The "not cold water" is my friend too. I drink about a gallon a day, not kidding! I find if I chug water from liter bottles I drink more that way. Plus you're body process it quicker when it's room temp.
Glad your blood work is all normal. I hate all things Licorice or I'd try you're candies...blech, I can't stand cherry flavored anything either.
Those little tens unit cords can be sneaky wiggling loose. I sleep with mine on sometimes. I keep the pads on when I'm home all the time and plug in as needed. Thank goodness for rechargeable batteries! Well I better get back to work and post at least two more auctions.

Stomach Problems

I've had the same thing off/on my whole life it really messes with your weight. It's been from a variety of things.
Recently I've found coconut oil. I use it in my coffee. It helps regulate the energy level in my system from my irregular eating. Similar to what butter coffee does but it does seem to agree with my stomach as I haven't had a problem with coconut just didn't have a way to introduce it to my diet in an organic/ natural way as anything in pill form is hard enough so I stay away.
I'm going to be trying diatomasious earth in good grade form next & add that to my coffee. It's suppose to clean your system. I found a seller on EBay who does use it on everything. Its an older remedy. It does look like an item that after I use it I will want to do a probiotic replacement as its suppose to cleanse your system of anything down to parasites. I have suffered an infection for many months after my tendon rupture & im still not feeling right.
I should have the DE in a few days I'll try to remember to let you know.

Some more info...
I ordered the food grade DE from Wolf Creek Ranch I think is the sellers name. It was less on eBay than their website.
The coconut oil I use is called barlean's organic coconut oil & it comes in a 60 fl oz container. It's soy free, non gmo, gluten free, organic & vegan. It comes in a tub & reminds me of crisco. You can use it in almost anything I hear most people use it in green beans & potatoes. I use it instead of butter which is the new trend - that bullet proof diet. Tibetans have always used goats butter in coffee to help regulate & boost their energy levels in their harsh high environment. My mom started using it to lower her cholesterol & other areas she needed it for. I found it helped my energy levels, settled my stomach & found I was eating less at the wrong times as well as not craving as much junk & sugar. Im happy with the coconut oil I definately recommend it.
It's expensive - mom gets it at Costco or a place like that- this huge bottle for like $15.

I will be opening a new bottle this week of the coconut & I should have the food grade DE any day now.
Private message me if you would like me to send you some DE & coconut oil to try so you don't have to buy a huge bottle if it doesn't work for you.
I haven't tried the DE & I should probably try it at least a week before but it's not expensive & if I have any side affects it still has a ton of uses. If you have pets it's a great system cleaner for them or dewormer. It will keep algae from growing in their water bowl, keep ants out of their food or if you spread some around the bowl it dries them out & they die. It wouldn't hurt to send some anyways.

I read something about the DE too. I thought that was the stuff my friend used to put in her above-ground swimming pool so I didn't pay much attention. I'm very interested in hearing how you do with it. I just got through a course of antibiotics because of dental work and my stomach is still a mess. I am dropping pounds though!

Because I have so much trouble with antibiotics I use Colloidal Silver. It too is an old remedy. They used it before penicillin was discovered. Most doctors will tell you it's bad and I would never use it every day but whenever I feel a cold or the flu coming on I take it with echinacia.

I don't like licorice flavor either but I'm willing to try anything that quiets my stomach down.

Stomach Problems

Interesting thread.

I saw a program about a guy who uses the silver and he is now SILVER!  Ugh.

My stomach problems are caused by 13 years of chemo, so I probably am no help.

Ginger lozenges and Zofran are what I have to use.  Also Pepcid.
