Very important:
Ebay has just released their new Spring Seller Program:
There was a discussion forum yesterday.
There will be another discussion forum today at:
http://forums.ebay.com/db2/forum/March-2013-Seller/5200000027
Also today there will be a Town Hall Meeting:
http://pages.ebay.com/townhall/
You need to sign up for Ebay radio if you do not already listen to it. Sign up before the town hall meeting. Ebay radio broadcasts shows twice a week usually. They can be interesting or non interesting depends on their topics of the day.
The new updates may not effect you at all. They will effect our ebay store quite a bit.
If you are one who lists the 50 FREE items a month category. You will now be able to list a mix of auction or buy it now with 50 items.

I read a bunch of the changes and it didn't seem like it was going to effect me much since I don't have a store. I do like that they are taking just a straight 10% flat fee. I have been hit with some doozies of fees with higher sales. My sales reports are usually only selling in the 10 to 20 dollar range.
They keep changing the rules, I keep playing the game. I just roll with the punches and hope that I am doing things right.

Happy it will not effect your business. The new deal seems to benefit those who are the 50 Free auction businesses.
We lost our Top Rated Seller last year only because of my disabilities. I am unable to ship orders out within 24 hours. We have all 5.0 and not one item strike ever for shipping time. All the orders go out within 3 days. But I am just not physically able to get them out in 1 day.
Went thru many phone calls with Ebay last year about this. They kept saying the same thing. "No Exceptions".
These new changes appear to be a problem for my store again. It will cost lots more in fees. The store is just me selling my massive collections that are in our bank safe boxes. We use the money to pay towards my medical needs.
I crossed paths with Pat in a forum about these new changes the other day. She was an active part of our group for a while. Reminded her of our group and how it is doing better now.
Time to go see my little friends out there,

I don't think it is right that eBay makes a mandate that items must be shipped within 1 day ... I can comply because my postman picks up my packages from my front porch. Otherwise, I would have to wait until my husband got home from work to take me to the post office. I haven't driven in 9 years now. So, if it weren't for Mike my postman, I would be shipping every two or three days. It would be difficult.
Sorry these changes are going to affect your store DWB, fees going up, unrealistic mandates ... no fair.
I am dimwitted with a poor memory ... I don't recall a Pat from the group. Is she still here?

I lost my status because I wasn't selling enough. I wasn't selling enough because the changes ebay made to the search engine gives stores priority over individuals. the only reason I still list on ebay is because it's free. I haven't sold anything in months.

My thoughts on all these yearly updates is:
We just keep doing what we are doing. I don't worry about trying to do un-realistic things to achieve some standard they are looking for.
As it turns out we still sell as much or more every year. We very carefully increase prices to offset their cost increases every year. Its possible to pick up a little bit in the shipping cost. And adding a little bit on the starting prices.
Its the level of fee increases they come up with that make it difficult on all of the sellers on here. People buying on the internet do not have to buy here. They can go onto Amazon or another similar place and buy it there. The price may be lower there cause the fees are lower to sell there.
We got our first Negative ever yesterday. The man purchased the item on Sunday at 9:59 p.m. We shipped it on Monday Morning. He wrote "took 4 days longer to get here than it was suppose to"
He got the package on Thursday?
Take away 4 days and in his mind it should have been their Sunday morning??:|
Let's see if we deduct 4 days like he is saying....It means we will need to be shipping before he thought about buying it.:|
So how is it possible for anyone to achieve the 1 day shipping they ask for?
There may be one way:
Go with the DWB entertainment theory. I create entertainment when ridiculous things like this come our way.
A New Break thru Item:
"Ship the order before the buyer even thinks about buying it"?
Our dazzling new "thought chip" is entered into the buyers noggin. You package the order up and take it to the post office. Then with this new chip . . . . SUDDENLY . . . . he thinks about buying it!!!! ......:O
Presto he gets delivery the second he places his order.:^O
Keep your Top Rated Seller Status with our new "Thought Chip"
Get your new "thought chip" today for 12 easy payments of $99. And if you order our new "thought chip" today we will include a FREE supply of noggin chips. Once these are inserted in your buyers head he will just keep right on buying from you.
Our staff is waiting for your call. $99 dollars plus shipping and handling. (50 years expected delivery time)
So this is how DWB looks at it. Turn it into entertainment. Cause that's what it really is.
Hope you enjoy my commercial above.:^O
Will try not to drown in the shower laughing about all this.
Enjoy your day,
DWB

I must admit I've had some anxiety on the neg feedback thing. DWB your post with customer unrealistic expectation shows me you are not going to please everyone, no matter how hard you try. I have 1 no pay and 1 who's shipment is in USPS land because they moved and did not update their paypal address.
03-25-2013 09:35 AM
Yes, and they are happy to place the blame on you. It is sad when people don't own up to what they have bid on or have the common sense to update their address. Geez, it's tough enough trying to play the game by the ever changing rules.

Back when I was selling a lot I figured I'd be doing ok if I got one or two negatives a year. I'd always post a response to the buyer's feedback and then I'd block them from ever buying from me again.
DWB I love your post!

A few months ago I got an e-mail outside of Ebay from a buyer. She had bought 17 items.
She said:
No receive items no response to messages. What happens to your Ebay business if I leave Negatives for you 17 times? Others just give me a refund to avoid this issue.
We never received a message from her. The package showed tracking going out of Miami and that's as far as tracking goes.
Looking at her feedback left for 87 different sellers in 1 year she had left negative feedback . Then changed it to positive saying "refund given".
I called Ebay. They asked us to mail them a photograph of her e-mail.
We did this.
5 days later she was "no longer registered" on ebay.
Imagine how many FREE items this creep must have gotten?

I just don't get how people can be so dishonest ... I try very hard to play by the rules, knowing that rules are sometimes meant to be changed or broken .... but I do my best to be aboveboard and honest.

Mawning back at um some today.
There's a lot of shop lifters on this site. On the power seller group a seller directed us to a U-tube page where a young man was sitting there telling the world how to do this. He described step by step instructions how to get sellers with 100% feedback to do anything to avoid getting a negative. Even give you all your stuff for FREE just to avoid the negative.
He had thousands of visitors and others commenting how well it works thankin him.
The same thing goes on in walmart and other places. People shop lift. Ebay has created a large department that is working on this problem. They appear to be trying real hard to help us.
Nice to be back

Don't mean to sound flip but there's an old saying...you can't make all the people happy all the time...
It goes on but the point is, there are always going to be people who are negative. When I first started selling on eBay I used to get totally bent out of shape if I got a negative. After a number of negatives and a few years I stopped getting upset. I will say I'm surprised to hear eBay is actually doing something for sellers. They really need to reinstate the feedback for buyers!
DWB...nice to have you back!
