Spring Seller Updates Impacting YOU?

The new Spring Seller Update has arrived.

I have been noticing disabled E-Bayers being impacted by the changes. Some are leaving messages in other discussion groups about their new upcoming challenges over this.

Am I the only one physically unable to ship orders out within the 1 day shipping time required in the Spring Seller Updates?

Anyone else worried about losing their 20% discount over this?

Are you being negatively impacted by the new Spring Seller Updates?

Disabled E-Bayers Discussion Group:

During the past 4 years I have met many disabled E-Bayers like myself. Currently we send messages to one another all the time. Recently I decided to start our own discussion group. Thank you for becoming a member.

Yeah, treats and a note are really appreciated by my postman ... and I of course, appreciate that he picks up ... I don't drive so I couldn't ship out every day otherwise.

Its real hot here already. The postal delivery person sure likes a nice cold bottle of water. :^O

That's hard work delivering all that mail. My wife did that for about a year. Dehydration was her biggest issue.

Cookies well that's just an added treat good one.

I always try to get packages out within one day, but it can't always be done. 

It's unreasonable to expect the sellers here to get all of their sold items packaged and posted within one day of sale.  Commercial sellers don't even do this - I thought Lands End was pretty good because they shipped in two days!

I'm lucky, in that my mail lady will pick up whatever packages I have for her, regardless the class of the postage.  And because I sell so few, I only have to pkg one at a time with a good amount of space between sales.

eBay seems to bend over backwards in their efforts to appease and attract buyers.  That's all well and good, after all, we DO want the buyers! 

But this should not be done at the expense of the seller's needs. 

You know, I once had a buyer who had purchased an item for which I had no box.  I was at the mercy of my home care taker to find me a box, and then she mailed it the next day from her home.

The package did not get there as quickly as the buyer was wanting and I got a pretty nasty note.  When I explained, in my apology, that I was disabled and unable to get to the post office myself, was at the mercy of the kindness of others (sounds like something from "Streetcar Named Desire" doesn't it?!), the seller REALLY got nasty:

"Had I known you were disabled and had to have someone else mail your packages, I would not have purchased the item!"

WHAT???!!!!  Her name went on my "Dont EVER make this mistake again" list!

The box arrived that same day, of course.  I have a feeling she was wanting me to refund her money AND let her keep the Critter.

"Disabled" does not translate to "Stupid!"  And that person sure was an expert in "Stupid!"

Most people on E-Bay are very nice. I message with buyers all the time. Its really enjoyable to me communicating with people all over the world.

My wife gets me some nice boxes at the liquor store. They have lots of odd shaped ones. Also the Staples always has some.

Peggy, that's awful that a buyer would take that attitude about buying from someone who is disabled. And how rude of her to say so, too!

From my point of view, unless you're a large seller with a group of employees, delays are bound to happen here and there. I appreciate eBay's need to ensure that buyers aren't put in a bad position but to go to the other extreme isn't so good either.

When we get a buyer like Peggy got.  We can come to our group and read some good postings.

Maybe listen to nature and all those interesting  sounds out there.

Good advice, DWB. Tuning into nature can be so calming... I just have to remember to do it!

You can also get a nice variety of boxes at no charge from the usps ... course, they are priority boxes ... but they're free.

My husband has people he delivers steel to saving me shipping peanuts, boxes, bagged air, etc.  I feel a bit like a recycle center!  LOL! 

Sometimes, it's hard to find just the right box, how rude of that buyer to be so demeaning to you.  I certainly would put them in my  blocked buyer list.

The problem with the priority boxes is you have to use that priority mail to ship them and that's a pretty pricey charge - making them expensive free boxes!

Sometimes you can make out with them, though.  I'm disbursing the old silver I'd gathered years ago and I sold three listings of them right off the bat. 

Now, had I been using the "normal" boxes to mail them (all three going to the same byer) it would have cost quite a hefty sum.  But with the priority shipping box, I got a real bargain!

There's nothing wrong with "recycling" those packaging materials.  In fact, don't you imagine most people understand and appreciate the effort to use up, rather than throw away?

I am happy to get those recycled packaging materials believe me ... saves me a bundle!  I do purchase small boxes though ... like 4x4x4 and 6x6x6 ... convenient sizes for smaller items.
