Re: Internet Predators - Fraud - Scams

Forever comfy is a scam. I went to their website to order a seat pad. First off......their site is very confusing, then after they have you click through many pages of other product offers, you are directed to a screen that says "thank you for your order"......no page to confirm your order or make changes.

I WANTED 1 SEATPAD.......THEY CHARGED ME FOR 4! My mistake is that I did research after I made the purchase. It seems they do this to everyone. Some people who try to purchase 1 pad are charged up to $120 for 4 upgraded pads. I only was charged $80, so I feel lucky.

The truly bad thing is: they are targeting elderly and disabled people!!!!

I have not received them yet, but when I do I will post how good they are.

If anyone needs one, I have a few extra, lol!

Re: Internet Predators - Fraud - Scams

My gosh what a lot of nerve they have???

We contact our local State when someone is doing this. The information can be found pretty easy doing a search.

The State of Florida goes after these kind of people big time.

I usually find it under the State Attorney General office. Then look down the column on the left side and you will find something in the line of "Consumer Protection".

Thank you for alerting us.

Re: Internet Predators - Fraud - Scams

The best thing to do is call them on the phone if you want one, then they cannot trick you into buying 4......stay away from their site.

Since I placed my order, I have been receiving marketing phone calls, and endless email spam.......2 things I did not get before I ordered from them.....X-(

DWB....thank you, I have already placed complaints with Attorney Generals Office, and the BBB........not to mention, I have went around to a few product review websites and told my story.

Re: Internet Predators - Fraud - Scams

Happy you are letting the upper ups know about these unscrupulous (spelling?) sellers ripping off the elderly or disabled.

We call our credit card company when someone does us wrong. They give us our money back. Then we return the item with tracking to prove we did.

Yesterday got a call from our local sherifs' dept. I do lots of volunteer work for them. They told me about someone trying to do that old "Pigion Drop" scam on people.

The Pigeon Drop:

One person will approach an elderly or disabled person in a store. Tell them they just found a wallet or bag with say $1000 in it. Ask them if they lost it?

Before they are done they get this person interested in helping them. After a while they con or rob this elderly or disabled person out in the parking lot.

I am putting together another meeting at the VFW here in town. We will have the next person down from the State Attorney General coming in to speak. There will be a lot of preperation for this. I will give you some good info in this topic coming from their office the next 2 months of preparation.

Be safe out there,

DWB

Re: Internet Predators - Fraud - Scams

There are a lot of "scam emails" being sent around lately.

The pose as your bank, paypal, your credit card and many other tricks.

One thing they all seem to have in common.

"They want you to click on the link below"

That will take you to them and the beginning of getting you to enter information.

They recently got one of our neighbors here on our street.

Be careful of the scams this time of year.

When it comes to computers and being on the internet, I'm considered a dinosaur. I've been on the internet since you had to plug a telephone receiver into a rubber receptacle. You even had to reserve time. There were no pc's back then. It wasn't punch cards, but it was mag tape.

Anyway, a lot has changed in the 50+ years that I've been online. One thing that hasn't is the scams. The safest thing to do is to mark as spam and immediately delete anything that is not addressed to your name. If it's addressed to your email or to anything other than your name, it's either spam or scam.

If you look at your personal accounts, you'll see that they always address their emails to you, using your first and last name. PayPal has had a major problem with this over the years.

Re: Internet Predators - Fraud - Scams

Wow you internetin for a long time 50 years.

One way to prevent e-mail scams is to request all your communication with financial institutions to be within their own website messaging. This way anything someone sends you outside is for sure a scam.

The things we learn in the group amaze me. Been reading postings today. They are full of good information on health.

Take care,

Not 50 years! That would mean I started when I was 11! Think I had a bad case of fibro fog when I wrote that! I started back in the 1970's.

Re: Internet Predators - Fraud - Scams

Was just funnin with ya. Kinda figured something with the memory was wobbly. Still since the 1970s is a long time.

My first effort to do the internet came in 1994. I heard about it at a business meeting from a professor. Drove 3 hours to a university library to see it. The professor  took me to the library and booted it up. It took about 15 minutes to get connected. And longer than that to find anything. We both looked in amazement how he was finding things all over the world.

My memory does the same thing as yours. My doctor told me a real interesting thing about our memories.

He said "lack of sleep" will screw your memory up a lot. Sure makes sense.

Take care,

DWB

Re: Internet Predators - Fraud - Scams

Last February thru the help of our local sherrifs department I organized a meeting at our local VFW.

This meeting specialized in "Internet Predators". How they can lure children.

We heard many stories from high level undercover agents on how they battle this growing problem.

Here is a web page below to go to:

I urge all of you to watch Katies Story. If you know anyone with children please tell them about this:

http://www.webwisekids.org/parents-teachers-katies-story.html

If we can save 1 child from being taken into this situation we have all won.

Your thoughts?
