My handy central location puts me about equidistant between the two cities.

Well I can do Washington to New York by car in 3 hours. stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes

Gosh!  And I'm about the same distance from both -- 220 miles to D.C. and 245 miles fo NYC.  Amazing coincidence!

Probably best to start a new thread for these items, as this one is rapidly descending into chaos grinning

We did, temporarily, hijack your thread.  But the piece is interesting, and the biographies of your relatives are very interesting.

If your family is still in possession of the sorts of items you describe, obtained during the war from wealthy, even artistocratic, clients, I think you really should be talking to some of the high-end auction houses.  While we're delighted to help and would love to see more of what you have, you're talking about items that may be of extraordinary value -- both historically and monetarily.

Just do what you did before by asking a new question. It will appear on the board as a fresh, uncluttered thread and you can post photos of your other items there for us to have a look at.

Re: help with antique sterling horses&coach

Last year I had two of these that I sold. I used the one in this link as it was similar to mine.

Did you know you can drive from Glasgow to Moscow in half an hour?

Google Maps link

That's really fast considering that Moscow is less than 2 miles from Washington.

It looks kinda like the salt cellars that used to sit on dining tables or flower holders on buffet tables.  There may have been a glass insert that went in the coach that you filled with water and stuck flowers in. I cant tell how big it is.
