I've been searching for ages trying to figure out exactly what this is. I think it's either a small 7-3/4" square tray, small plate, or salver. Seems to be difficult to find something similar. At first I thought it was made up of pewter, but it is not, as it does not stick to a magnet, so must be silverplated.

If anyone knows anything more I would be very grateful 🙂

If it were silverplated at one time, it appears that all the silver is gone. At least, that's how it looks to my eye. Unfortunately, with no marks of any kind I can't see where to go from here.

My point, though, is that the OP's appears to be saying that if it sticks to a magnet, it must be silverplate. I am trying to get to the bottom of this line of reasoning, because it does not make sense to me. Silver is not magnetic, and the base metal in the vast majority of silverplate is not magnetic either. So if a magnet sticks to this tray - as the OP now says it does - my first thought would be: "Ah! it is steel" - not "Ah! it is silverplate."

I understood your point, although my comment may have made it seem otherwise, and I cannot account for the idea, either.
