UNKNOWN SUBJECT ON 1984 VARI-VUE FLASHER BUTTON

I LOOKED THROUGH FAMOUS PERSONS DEATHS IN 1984 AND STILL CANNOT IDENTIFY THE PERSON ON THE FLASHER BUTTON.  AN OLDER GENTLEMAN WITH BLACK HORNED RIMMED GLASSES.  THE SECOND FLASHER SHOWS "RIP 1984" INSIDE A MUSHROOM CLOUD.

I realise it might not be easy, but can you try to get separate photos of the two different views? It's visually confusing having them superimposed like that.

With that image of the bomb/mushroom cloud, you might want to try adding Los Alamos to your search terms. Maybe he was one of the scientists responsible for the atomic bomb.

Presumably "RIP 1984" means nuclear war would result from his political stance.

Probably from the 1984 campaign.  Helms just barely beat Jim Hunt in that election, and  I think it was the narrowest margin by which Helms ("Senator No") ever won an election.
