The box has great wide dovetails with copper strapping in spots. It base is about 13" square and the top is 9.75" square. Two handles of wood, not sure if its grain painted or just great grain on the wood. Thanks for any info you may be able to share, appreciate your time

I have no idea if this is correct, but this identifies something very similar as a Japanese antique, so that could be an idea for some research:
1st Dibs is noted for its aspirational pricing.
All the firkins I've ever seen were cask-shaped, by the way. A firkin, as a measure, is about eight gallons.
