What would help is a close up - clear and sharp - of just his face.

Pete Townshend from the Who? Is that a ballon in front or a giant microphone?

Looking at the first photo, don't think the enlargement can be much clearer. Right click on the first photo and open to view. The original photo is not very sharp or clear to start with, so any enlarging will only make it fuzzier.

Hi!
Looks like a ballon.
Too huge for microphone I think.
Artist face will not be visible for many people then!
Thanks.

I think that's Kenny Loggins. Compare the shirt:

My first thought was that it looks like Mike Rutherford from Genesis.

I agree. The face similarity is pretty convincing. From a 1978 concert:

Mike Rutherford is playing left handed, while the other photo is right handed.

I totally agree! Kenny Loggins for sure!

Just out of curiousity, I wondered if they made mylar balloons in the 70s, and I found this: Beginning in the late 1970s, some more expensive (and longer-lasting) foil balloons made of thin, unstretchable, less permeable metallised films such as Mylar (BoPET) started being produced.
So, at the time it would have been something new.
