Looking to ID this coat of arms pin (French?)

This pin was in a collection of medals and pins that came back with a soldier who fought in WWII in France.  Lots of symbols on the pin - some items kinda remind me of Harry Potter images.

The icons in the middle remind me of the white rose of the House of York (Plantagenet) on the band (blue running from the upper dexter to lower sinister).
