Old vintage piece of Larkin Soaps Desk hard cardboard advertising...Racist. Is this allowed for sale on Ebay, not sure I know with all the unrest there is, would certainly not want to offend anyone, and I don't just want to trash it. Some foxing one issue on bottom corner. Your thoughts.

Such items are listed under Collectibles > Cultures & Ethnicities > Black Americana >

The dark-skinned individuals in the item are Turks, not African, so "black Americana" may not be the right spot for it. Personally I would list it in "Collectibles - Advertising - Soap" and leave it at that.

Gosh, you're right. I didn't bother to try read the text, and Turks aren't dark-skinned, so that just went right on past me. I occasionally forget there was a time when anyone who was not a White Anglo-Saxon was "black" (if not "red" or "yellow").

Now that I think of it though, the text is definitely racist, albeit toward the "brown"-skinned Turks, so anyone interested in such advertising might indeed be looking in Cultures and Ethnicities. Maybe listing in both is the answer if selling is the goal.

Thank you so much. I have decided it bothers me too much to list. LOL...Thanks again
