I got this gorgeous pin from an estate sale. It was in a group with airline pins, but hubby thinks it is a WWII victory pin. We have done some research on it, checking out defunct airlines and WWII pins. No markings on it. 3" wingspan.

I am quite sure argon did not mean to make fun of you or of your post. I tried to research following your first post but was not successful. So I had nothing to contribute and therefore no response. Probably the same is true for others.

Really, he was not making fun of you. He was just amused by the effect I caused with my initial post and link.
As for no responses, this is a board where people tend to look (your first post got 41 views originally, remember) but reply only if they have something to offer. I've seen threads with over a hundred views, but not a single response.
On other forums, it's common for people to post things such as, "I don't know what it is, but I like it," or "Whatever it is, it is very pretty," or, "I can't say I've eve seen one of those before," or, "Well, I have no idea what that is!" and the like.
It's just a difference in what might be called "board culture"
So don't think that no replies means no interest, or a lack of friendliness.

Apologies, it was meant to be light-hearted. I understand that getting no replies can be frustrating, but the best way is always to bump up the original thread rather than start a new one. Two threads does mean more views, but it's generally the same people viewing, and having two threads on the same item can get very confusing.

I sold military pins for a long time, I swear I've seen this pin before but I cannot find it now.
Your clutch backs don't match, one is newer (L) and a different style from the Ballou on the R. The clutch backs are often not a good indicator of age or maker as people swap them out all the time.
The actual pin looks to be a Victory pin, military like with the eagle and wreath. The back is not marked and it does not look very old (i.e., WW2 era), looks to be a newer pin. Are there any markings under the clutch backs?

@ifyouloveit No marks underneath. I didn't think it looked old enough to be WWII, but it does have the victory look to it.
@argon38 I have no idea how to bump up a thread.

If you want people to take a fresh look a thread that has dropped down the list , just hit "Reply" to your own question and write the word "Bump" in dialog box. This will move the thread back up to the top of list and most folks here will understand why.

As palmtreelucky says, it means replying to your own post so that your thread appears at the top of the page again. You can either write "bump," or you can try to prompt a response ("might it be military?" "Any ideas on this?" etc.). This has all the advantage of getting people to take a fresh look (which can help), while keeping the responses all on one thread. The problem with opening more than one thread on the same item is that research efforts get duplicated. I've seen cases where people have put a lot effort into solving a question which (unknown to them) has already been solved on the "other" thread.
I also agree with what has been said about unanswered questions. It simply means we don't have the answer, not that we're uninterested in helping.

if you have any problem above mention questions, you can contact ebay customer service.

Yes I've been AWOL but for a very good reason. This is not a WW II era Victory pin, it is a modern piece, sorry.

That is one reason for a lack of responses. Here's a couple more:
1. Lack of a simple thank you from OP's. (Windy is not on THAT list!). Research takes time, effort and coffee.
2. The generally horrible format of both the new and previous generation of discussion boards. Ebay can't seem to figure out how to integrate the 'community' with the main page. A simple notification in the messages tab of 'My Ebay' would be a wonderful thing.
3. Windy tagged me in a post back in October. Never saw a notification.

Here is a site that may be helpful. https://wingcollector.com/ Not sure how active the site may be, but it looks like a place to start.
Hey Check your patch post from a few months back.
