Your second one isn't sterling, it's electroplated silver. The mark is that of Francis Howard of Sheffield, England:

I think the first one is Frank M. Whiting Co. It may be a lightly struck mark, as there should be a complete circle around the "W".

If you show the front of the entire piece I could probably identify the pattern, thus confirming the Whiting attribution.

Is the first item a tea strainer, like this one? If so, it's Frank M Whiting Co.
