I have not been here for some time, I am not sure if I missed the antique board. I am trying to find information on this item that was brought from Russia in the late 1940's. It looks like a sporting trophy that is hand painted. Thank-you in advance.

I'm not at all trying to get an appraisal here. She wants to give her son and children things and she wants to get an idea of value so, in her mind, she can be fair to everyone. I was trying to do some research for her, it's not a big deal. She can afford an appraisal, it wasn't to be that specific. I'm sorry if I offended you. I've been off and on eBay for a lot of years and always felt I could ask for help here.

Glad to help. Still not sure exactly what the trophy was for, though, or how it was acquired.

Had no idea this guy was so infamous? His sister is still alive, she thinks he played some hockey there. I'll have to ask her about the looting.

Maxine was joking. There is no reason to believer that he was anything other than a good, conscientious priest. He certainly wasn't infamous, nor was he expelled for looting.

And anyone actually curious about his years in Russia can read his book, Moscow Was My Parish, modestly-priced used copies of which are available on-line at various venues. Indeed, he might even mention the trophy in it, were one awarded to him or someone close to him, or given to him as a gift for some special reason.
