Help identifying cap badge, possibly ww1

Found this image in old family photos and need help identifying the uniform/cap badge. Sadly I have no other info or knowledge on the subject.

Italian 1st Infantry Regiment - WWII era. The 1st was part of the 13th Division, which fought in Yugoslavia and was engaged in some of the dirtiest fighting of the war against the Partisans with very few rules observed by either side.
