I bought this glass item with a metal base.   I don't know what is.  A base to a lamp?  any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

Is the glass part hollow, to hold something?  Because it looks like a vase to me.  Glass vases with metal bases are not uncommon.  Or am I missing something?

Clear photos of the bottom of the foot of the vase, and down the neck would also be helpful.
