Hi, does anybody know anything about Bernie Gobin. His nick name was "KAI KAI" and it means wise one or blue jay. He was an American Indian from the TulaIip tribe in Washington state. He died in 2009. He was a master wood carver as well as a politician and fisherman for the tribe. I have a wood carving that he made out of a 600 year old red wood and it is beautiful and a one of a kind piece. All the research I have done is not telling me much on how to value a piece like this. My wifes dad meet him a few times and got this piece off from him on trade back in the late 60's to early 70's. Please if anyone could help out I would greatly appreciate it. The piece is like a totum plank that hangs on the wall. It measures 1" x 8" 22" and weighs 2 LBS. Thanks and best regards...........Woody

Information about Bernie Gobin is extensive:

So all you seem to be interested in is what monetary value this piece may have. No one here does appraisals or valuations, for many good reasons.
Unless someone comes along with a suggestion for a specifc appraiser, or a suggestion on the best hands to put this into for sale, you can find someone here to help you:

Good luck with it, if you decide not to keep it in the family.
