I believe the second word is Էջմիածին (Etchmiadzin). That church in the middle of the plate is unquestionably Etchmiadzin Cathedral.

Full inscription (in Armenian) is:

Holy Etchmiadzin

Wow, you guys are awesome! I vote for Mount Ararat for the volcano, and I wasn't too far off on my Turkish copper resemblance either, since Turkey is right next door to Armenia AND on the Mediterranean.

I think you're spot-on with Mount Ararat.

Can you take a picture of the back?

Thanks. The picture that I found was this one. The mountain is in Turkey, but is very close to the border. There are even some photos with similar churches and the mountain.

What can I say? I'm a big fan of Armenian art.
You know I meant the back of the plate, please tell me you knew that. 🙂

Just trying to get a better fix on the age of the plate even if there are no marks. Full service appraisals here.

How could I see a picture of the back of the plate if you haven't posted a photo of it?
Can you please post a clear photo of the back of the plate?
