I found this snuff box among other smalls at an estate sale recently. I had no idea what he was but the price was right to take a chance on some small interesting looking items. When I opened his underside, some 'seeds' were stored inside and through Google image search found out it's a snuff box. Please correct me if this is wrong. I'm curious to find out how to date this and any other info possible. Any resources you can point my to or info you can provide will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I assume it's carved wood with metal hinge. Folk Art. C 1890-1930. Have you tried sprouting any of the seeds yet?

Thanks Sonomabarn67!
No, I have not. Though I am a gardener, wonder if anything would come up if I tried...

Is it tiger maple, do you think? (Assuming it's wood.)

Well, I'm not sure it's tiger maple, which is why I asked Sonoma's thoughts, as he's more likely than I am to be able to identify it from the photos. You may care to do a Google image search of woods to see what you think.

Here it is brightened up. I am having problems with PS, if you could make your pics as bright as my example we might be able to id te wood. On the seeds, and me being an avid gardener I once bought a 30 year old basket of seeds , planted them all in a pot and got 60% germination for my efforts. Have you heard of the seed bank in the arctic where our life line seeds are stored? There is hope the current crop of mad men can be subverted in their desire to kill us all😩
