I agree, smedley. I just can't understand how fixing a broken bone that is moving around in my innards can be considered "elective surgery".
I believe that I will get a second opinion.

Bill, you obviously don't understand the new "obamacare" lingo.
They accessed you records and determined that you didn't help to "elect" the chosen one.
Therefore your surgery is deemed to be "elective".
You can get a second opinion from an "obamacare" death panel. Gee, I wonder what their opinion will be?

Well Gary, you know what they do to horses when they brake a leg.
BTW, it is good to "see" you again. It has been a while.

Well, since you asked....
Unfortunately, I'm not doing very well right now. I inherited my dad's dislike for doctors, so I didn't make it to the doctor until last week.
I had thought that I had a dislocated hip. It turns out that it is much worse than that. The long bone between the knee and hip (the femur) connects to the hip in a ball and socket connection. The ball part is at the end of the femur. It turns out that the ball of my right femur broke off completely. The orthopedic surgeon that I saw yesterday says that since I waited so long that it no longer an emergency but rather is now "elective surgery".
Sorry to hear all that Bill, that hurts just reading it. Hopefully you can find someone competent to work on it before September!

Thanks, Ted.
For some strange reason, my luck has been running bad since last October. But, as I always say "Don't whine about what is because it can always get worse".

That is terrible Bill! I am mad too at the docs or whoever decides, let them put up with something for a while and then see how that is ~ no, I guess that would not help, and why wish it on anyone else, your attitude is the better one I think.
sometimes it seems like the only thing we have control over is the volume

Hola Richard: your post 28 Dec 2007 2254 hrs: Heron plays a lot of different music
on CDs whilst he is enjoying the hobby of paper money & coin collecting. Here is how
he enjoys music in the mornings:
1. Starting off with the Beach Boys Greatest Hits Vol 1 [forget vol 2].
2. Then enjoying Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass Greatest Hits.
3. Then switching to some rousing sax with The Greatest Hits of Boots Randolph.
Those 3 CDs will get an old Heron feeling mighty good!
Regards,
xx

He is booked up until September, so I have to wait at least six weeks before he can squeeze me in for hip replacement surgery. I'm really looking forward to that - NOT!
I will try to post from time to time as long as the pain medicine holds out.
On the bright side (?) I did manage to make it to my friend's funeral with a broken hip.
So, how are you doing? Better than me, I hope.
Dang Southern,
Your all messed up sorry to hear that. Cant you go and see another specialist. Would be better for you. Get the operation done and over with. Instead of making it get worst. I would be afraid of losing mobility in my hip. leg. Thats very serious stuff their playing with. I hope you feel better. Glad that you got to go to the funeral even though its a sad day.
Will be looking forward to your posts. Take it easy.
Well I havent mentioned it yet. But Im 4 months pregnant. Its a difficult pregnancy. Just taking it easy.
Nice to see you again.

I knew it! But the clues were from the soapbox awhile back and also of course the give away was starting up the thread about collecting coins for a newborn. When is the baby due to be born? A new year's baby?
My favorite part of being pregnant (well, one of them) was when the baby starts moving in your tum tum. It is the coolest thing.. All of a sudden ...blooop, it moves across your middle...sort of strange and wonderful.
That is so exciting Amy. A baby. Now I have to find a song for you. And a coin. For old time's sake.
I am not sure if I got the date right. 2014 or 2015? http://youtu.be/t894eGoymio

Hi Amy.
First things first. CONGRATULATIONS! I am sorry to hear that you are having a difficult pregnancy. Just make sure to take it easy and do exactly what the doctor tells you to.
I appreciate your concern about my condition. If I were to change surgeons at this point, it might delay the surgery and I am anxious to get it over with. You would be surprised at what all has to be done before they can do this surgery.
Last week I had to go to the doctor for some tests (bloodwork and a UA). I had a "slip and fall" accident while I was there and I have been feeling it ever since. All of the blood tests came back normal, so I guess that is good news. I also have to get a medical release from my dentist and I am sure that they will think up some other things that I have to do before the surgery.
At the moment I only have 27 days to go. I think (hope) that I can hold out that long.
Once I have had the surgery, I probably won't be posting here for at least six weeks but I will be back.

Hi Everybody, was watching a great showtime documentary on David Bowie and came across this great song on the young americans album from 1975. He is a video pioneer and has a keen eye for talent. Background singers include a young Luther Vandross and a young David Sanborn playing the saxophone....
