20 de Octubre 2019: Greetings to all coin collectors where-ever you might be. Heron notices that the old Coin Chatting Bjord is almost muerto. However, Heron
is pleased to report acquisition of a 'Weisspfennig' of the Kingdom of Bohemia. This
is a non-dated coin but was issued sometime between 1471 and 1516. From the looks
of the coin it was likely issued in the late 15th Century. However, it still qualifies as
#424 of different issues of Central & Oest Europa.
Obverse: At center is 'Lion of Bohemia' en rampant.
Legend: WLADISLAUS SECUNDUS.
Reverse: Nada - this is an einseitiger coin. (AKA unifachi)
Note: This coin is usually referred to as a Weisspfennig. A high silver content.
Note: German word Weiss = white in English.
Note: This coin minted at the Royal Mint of Bohemia.
Note: The font used on this coin is apparently a type of old Latin font and Heron
could not read all the 'legend'. However, thanks to Numista the info is
available for us.
Short History:
C. 870-894 - Bohemia was part of Slavic State of Moravia.
895 - Bohemia joined Holy Roman Empire as a Duchy.
1029 - Bohemia acquired property of Moravia.
1198 - Became Holy Roman Empire Kingdom.
1526 - Ruling line extinct. Bohemia inherited by Happy Hapsburgers.
Note: Ruler 1471 - 1516 was Vladislav II Jagello.
Note: There are several spellings of Vladislav.

**This was a very good 'find'. And another item scratched off the old 'want list'
of 1981. It is with great pleasure to draw that line through a long sought item.
Yes, world coin collecting can be super fun. And acquiring #424 is also a
fun achievement for this alt world coin collector. A super fun hobby!**
