A CHANGE OF PACE: HALF PENNY TOKEN ESSEX-CHELMSFORD 1794

18 de Julio 2018:  Greetings to all coin collectors, where-ever you might be.  And in particular greetings to Copper coin collectors.  Especially collectors of British Merchant Trade Tokens, aka Conder Tokens.

elHeron realizes that this Coin chatting board is almost muerto!  However, perhaps this acquisition report can stir a tad bit of discussion?

Note:  Heron acquired this token 'locally' and for several reasons:

1]  The price was right.

2] It is a Copper token/coin with date.

3] One a Heron's anchestors is lying in a 'bury' closely near the town of

Chelmsford.  Headstone states 'Died 1540'.  No date of birth on stone.

Heron thought it would be a neat thing to own a token of Chelmsford!

The Token/coin:  Essex-Chelmsford 1/2 Penny Copper dated 1794.

Obv: Allegorical figure of 'Hope'.  [Called by Heron "Miss Britannia"].

           Leg: 'PROSPERITY TO OLD ENGLAND'.

Rev: Crown & Sceptre above legend and date:

          Legend: 'KING AND CONSTITUTION'.

          Date: 1794.

This is a neat Copper item and there is a lot of informacion on the innernet.

A fun item to acquire and to own.

Regardos.
