I too am older than Barbie.  55 years ago, my late mother handmade custom Barbie clothes for sale. Each Nov-Dec I hosted Barbie doll clothes parties at my apartment in the manner of tupperware parties and sold hundreds of dollars worth of one of a kind doll outfits for her as Christmas gifts for the nieces and little sisters of many young women. It was a unique role for me as a young single man but was doing it for mom.
