Search filtering and sorting by delivery date (early and late)

Hi,

So there's been a thread about this before (now locked, so I'm making this one) https://community.ebay.com/t5/Bidding-Buying/Search-by-delivery-date/td-p/25334358

And I wonder if the people in that thread even use ebay ?

I order a lot of stuff off ebay and delivery date can make a big difference.

Not having a way to search or sort by delivery date make that a painful process.

If at least you could see the early and late delivery date from the search index ! But no, you have to actually open each auction !

Now ebay allows you to limit search to 1, 2, 3 and 4 day "guaranteed delivery"

This is largely useless and will almost always yield 0 results except for super trendy stuff

That's not the date range that are interesting. And the "guaranteed" is also useless.

The BIG difference is, is this a US shipped product or a China shipped product.

Most US stuff, I get 1 to 2 weeks (some arrives in a few days)

Chinese stuff is 3 to 6 weeks

Right now, I want to buy some **bleep** drone for my sister, I hit ebay, sort by price.

Now if I want it inside of two weeks, I have to open every single entry until I find one that is shipping from the US and specifically has delivery date 1 to 2 weeks away.

That is hundreds of listings I have to open.

Now I could hit customer and select seller information, only issue is that it's no help.

Some Chinese seller list a US location but still claim delivery in 4 to 6 weeks.

Some US based sellers list they are from China, but will ship fast because they have local stuff !

This should be such a no brainer, just one of many MANY ways the ebay search is lacking and stuck in the 2000s

@ve2_ehf,

You have to open each listing, because there are many shipping options different sellers use, especially to ship items across borders. That much information would slow the opening of search results pages.

Because you are located in Canada, the Guaranteed delivery date options will be useless on (ebay.com) the U.S. site, because of international shipping delays.  You might have better luck finding Guaranteed delivery times on (ebay.ca) the Canadian site.

You can avoid many of the chinese sellers buy not sorting by Price + Shipping: Lowest first.  Most U.S. or Canadian domestic sellers cannot match the lowest prices with faster shipping options.  The chinese by Intl. trade agreements, pay nowhere near the cost domestic sellers do for shipping.

Maybe by doing a little online research first for the features you want in a drone, and brand names, so you can get an idea of the average cost. Then use the Price From-To option in the left hand column of a search results page to set a price range you are willing to pay for the unit starting at maybe 20 -30% lower than trending prices. Just to be safe after the search results page reloads with the price point info, Then check North America, US or Canada (depending on the site) options.

You may also (depending on your location) do well if you filter by 'Location: within XXX miles of me.' That should weed out most of the sellers who are shipping from China, although not those who claim to have a depot within XXX miles. It will, unfortunately, also weed out sellers a little farther away who ship with expedited shipping and handling.
