Refund issues

I made an accidental purchase on something on eBay. And got IDed for it. So I went to see if I could get a refund but apparently the buyer was receiving to many messages. So I couldn't contact him, and support were being useless. So now I have made an accidental purchase on an order that won't ever arrive and I can't get a **bleep** refund for.

If you purchased something on ebay, did you ask the seller to cancel the order before shipping? If that was too late, then does the seller have a potential return policy for the item? If yes, then you will have to open up a return request & more than likely have to pay for a return shipping label. The seller might also have some restocking fee. Reach out to the seller & see if you have any return options.

Good luck & be careful next time.

I'm curious how you managed to leap to the conclusion that the order "won't ever arrive"? If it doesn't, you can open an 'item not received' case and get a refund.

I'm also curious how your mistake is somehow the fault of eBay and/or the seller? It seems to me there's only one person at fault here.

If the seller has a return policy you can pay to return the item for a refund. If they have a no returns policy the item will be yours to keep, donate, gift or sell. And btw, those of us who've been around eBay for more than a month know that to purchase an item and pay for it takes at least three steps. So it can't be done accidentally.

Knowing when this happened might help. It is the holidays still...like today is a holiday-Monday January 2nd. A lot of sellers don't do 7 days a week answering messages...especially this time of the year. I drove by the post office today at 11 AM and saw people at the post office door with the metal chain door down. One girl had a huge box trying to get in. I had to laugh. The post office is closed today. Some sellers work Monday-Friday and not any holidays. I think you need to give the seller a little time to get back to you. And of course the seller will have a lot of messages on Tuesday tomorrow since it's been a long holiday week-end for most of us. And if I read correctly..."the buyer was receiving to many messages"...it sounds like you called to seller on his phone.

Just wondering...How does one make an accidental purchase?

Kinda hard to believe since you have to click on several windows to confirm the purchase. Or am I missing something?

I went to the drugstore.  Accidentally put a bottle of aspirin on the counter.  When the clerk rang it up, I accidentally gave her my credit card.  She handed the slip to me and I accidentally signed it.  So, you know, like, accidental purchases can happen.

You are in the UK but the advice is the same.  Don't buy if you can NOT commit to the purchase.  Now, try emailing the seller early in the morning and see if they will kindly cancel the order if they have NOT shipped yet.  If the item shipped, then it's time to be a man or a woman and accept the responsibility for the item when it arrives.   Keep it, donate it, trade it, sell it or toss it in the trash.   Accept responsibility for your actions.  Do NOT penalize the seller for YOUR mistake.   It was a holiday weekend. Perhaps it's best to party and NOT do Ebay at the same time.  Cheers.

There is no such thing as an “accidental purchase”.
It’s doubtful that you tripped and fell on your keyboard thereby clicking several buttons that this (or any) site would require you to push before a purchase was complete.

What you had was a case of regret buying.
