Hi All,
Someone or something has changed the language of ebay.com. Now it is in Hungarian, e.g. the product categories. It is terrible! My preferred language is English. I am seraching in English, not Hungarian. How can I set it back to English? Whenever I want to use a Hungarian language bidding site I use Hungarian webpages... I cannot find a vhange language option anywhere.
Thanks,
Aron

You are registered as being in Hungary. The language of the .com (USA) site has not changed.

You are wrong.
Nothing works on the https://accountsettings.ebay.com/uas page. Fe. the "Personal Information" is underlined but the links are missing. So it clear that somebody changed some things in the setup of the ebay.com and added some annoying and incredibly awful translations to some part of the auction pages.
I don't care about the silly ideas the ebay's customer satisfaction managers ideas, as this is clearly a case for a huge dissatisfaction. Please do not add a not requested language "support", but let the user decide which language to use. To make it clear: The text translation is worse then a simple google.translate version.
Just for fun, it's impossible to register from Hungary to ebay.hu, as that site is not even exists, so as far as I can remember I was registered to the ebay.com more then a decade ago, and there was never ever been a problem to see the pages in english.
So #ebay: please get back the language selection option for ebay.com, and let english be the default language selection for ebay.com. Or at least find someone who speaks hungarian...

+1: It's not evan possible to reach the customer service! That page is not working, as there is no way to get in touch with them, as the "please choose something" list is empty. So whatever was done, it's time to revert back the last working version of the main site of Ebay.

I didn't say that you are registered on eBay.hu. I said that you are registered as being in Hungary. This is what your profile indicates. As far as the .com site goes, it seems to be working fine to me here in the USA.

There is no eBay website in Hungary.
@designhucvaz, eBay has apparently recently increased the number of languages/countries they do translations for.
Historically, eBay tends to do translations based on the IP addresses that users are using. So, responders in the USA will see eBay.com in English as we are used to, but users in other countries may or may not see an automatic translation, which may or may not be very accurate.
Unfortunately, I don't know a good way to stop eBay from translating, if you are using an IP address in Hungary.
- Try looking at the center of the very top of the page. Is there a drop-down there which allows you to change the language? There used to be a drop-down there, several years ago, when eBay first started translating (only into Portuguese, Spanish or Russian, then, if I remember correctly).
- If not, look at the URL. Are there a few letters between the www. and the ebay.com? Again if I remember correctly, there used to be something like www.pt.ebay.com there ... but that was several years ago, and I don't know if that will still be the case or not. If so, try editing the URL to remove the letters between www. and ebay.com, then press enter.
If those don't work, I'm sorry. That's just what I would check if I were you. I can't do it myself because my IP address is in the USA.

First of all, thank you for your reply.
I looked all over the site, and ufortunately, there is no way to remove this annoying "feature", as all the former menu items were removed, and the rest are not working at all.
However it seems an ebay.com "speciality", because fe. the ebay.de site speaks german all the time. Also, even the menus are working there, but there is no way to change the language.
Probably it seems a silly thing, but I wish to remind ebay, that the listed items on ebay.com and ebay.de and on ebay.*** have different listings, so sometimes you have to look for some local ebay pages. In this context, to translate some parts of the ebay.com to local CE languages seems ridiculous, as there is no reason to add this "feature" to the US based site, against to an EU based ebay site.
Upon this, the silliest thing about the IP tracking is, that if a US citizen arrives to Hungary (there are some rumours, that anywhere in Central Europe) will get fe. english and hungarian mixed pages, which will be totally unanderstandable for him or her, and even untranslateable via google translate due to the awful ebayified mistranslations... so IMHO the language setting should be strictly based on the users profile settings and not on the IP addresses...

I have seen several posts from users in Central Europe registered on ebay.com that are having problems with translations and broken links on the help pages.
See here:
According to eBay, users running into this issue should get in touch with eBay.
Since the Help & Contact links do not work if you are experiencing this problem, try contacting eBay via social media:
https://www.facebook.com/eBay/
Or try contacting eBay via another country site such as ebay.co.uk or ebay.ie and request a chat with an agent.
Provide customer support your username and the following number which should allow eBay to identify the problem you are experiencing: ALERT13931.

Hello to All,
I have a solution for the problem: I am not using Ebay anymore. The website has gone unusable. The problem is real: some English speaking friends cannot use ebay because the pases are in Ebaian-Hungarian... Ebay has become crap.

Do you see a Hungarian flag at the top of the page, as in this picture?
If so, try clicking on the flag or the words "Ship to" beside it, and change the location from this drop-down menu. Choose an English-speaking location. That might change the language to match the location you choose.
No guarantees, but this used to work years ago when eBay first started doing machine-translations based on IP addresses.

Thank you for your idea, but it's not working any more.
Currently my ONLY shipping address is in NY,C, but ebay doesn't take care about it at all. Please refer to this annoying page with some english text on the top, and some hungarian on the bottom ‌😠‌
To make it more annoying, ebay's server always changes back to hungarian shipping while I want to send the items into NYC...

Thank you for your idea! I tried to follow your itiner, but I failed...
First, I tried the ebay.de, but I was not able to send an email to ebay, as there is no such option. What I can do is to ask for a call back from probably a german speaking only agent. That's all folks!
Then I tried the ebay.co.uk site. It seems to be better for the first time, but then I realised what my options are:
1: [if everyting else fails] "Please read the" [...] "manual"
2: or "ask for help...
HERE ON COMMUNITY.EBAY.COM!!!
Oops.... I almost forgot, there is one more thing left, you can try to chat with a bot. So I tried to use this ... thing, but when I typed the word: "language" then it took me to harrasment, and that was all.
In short, I think, it will could be the main story of Impossible Mission 9: Ethan, send an email to ebay... this message will self destruct in five seconds... so, as unfortunately I'm not Hunt, but only hunting for a solution, so I was not able to find a way to use your code in a subject 😞
In general, I don't know what's happening here, but it seems really-really weird and more weird day by day 😮
Anyho‌w, I wish to thank you for your idea.

eBay does not use email for customer service, or at least does not have a public address to write to that I know of.
You should be able to use the chat assistant to request a chat with an actual person by typing in "agent" rather than "language".
Or else use social media to contact eBay. I understand the folks on Facebook can be very helpful, and have much more authority than the front line customer service reps that are making phone calls.

Well of course I didn't looked for an email address, but for a place where I can send a written message to ask for help. As there is an internal messaging system in Ebay, and t send a message was a common thing in the past, so I was surprised that I can't send a message to the Ebay support team.

Well, it's getting more weird... first of all, your idea worked. After I typed the secret word AGENT, this window appeared:
So I pressed the "get in touch with us" link, and e'voila, this well known page appeared:
I was so happy, that I typed something like "please check this thread, and forward this to Ebay.com"... and then, please see what I saw on the next window:
And I was taken back to the "Help pages"...
Now I'm clueless and speachless. ðŸ˜
