I tried to do a backup of 1.15 TB Chinese 2.1TB thumb drive I bought here on eBay and it never could complete a backup.
It slowed down from heat and after three days it stopped and bogged down my entire Mac Pro desktop computer.
I did a proper Mac format which it seemed to accomplish. I now have this drive with 100gbs of personal info on it I cannot purge. I cannot return it for security reasons but these Chinese drives don't work on mac. My OS is Catalena. I'm told this is because the are designed improperly for heat dissipation and throttle down to a crawl.
These drives, and all Chinese thumb drives should be banned and not sold to Mac owners or warned. I'm pretty sure PC owners will find issues too.

Best of my knowledge, there is no such thing as a 2TB thumb drive. 256GB is the largest I know of. But, I may be wrong.

One must stick to the name brands from trusted sources. Some of the discount drives are much smaller that what they were sold as or were rejects "rescued" from the trash. I would suggest a good name external hard drive for that purpose. An SSD type is best as it can be knocked around without issues.

1 tb is the largest thumb drive I've heard off. Agree with going with name brand - yeah, they're still made in China, but at least they have to go through SOME quality control.
TBH, though, in terms of durability I'd go with a portable drive like My Passport - you can get them up to 5 tb and they're very durable.

Not sure over there, but Branded TD's here run out at anything from $10.00 to $100.00 depending on size. Not something I would need or consider buying from a cheap chinese warehouse where you know you are going to get what you paid for.
