I am a top rated seller. I strive to keep customers satisfied with every purchase. I want buyers to bid with confidence. Honesty & trust is very important. I take great pride in the items I sell. I'm also a buyer. I assumed that if the item I want to buy is from a "TOP RATED" seller it would be a seller I could trust, Well I was WRONG. For instance I saw something I wanted to purchase and when I saw the TOP RATED badge I felt confident until I saw his feedback. 7 Negative and 12 neutral ALL being from the past 30 days. Having this badge means absolutely nothing and shows Ebay can no longer be trusted. There allowing dishonest sellers listing JUNK, giving Ebay a bad rep. I had a return customer who asked me if I ever considered selling on Amazon, he stated he was fed up with Ebay's lack of integrity & closed his account
The Top Rated Seller badge is now based more on the volume of sales than on feedback, so you are right the badge no longer means as much as it once did. These days you have to actually check ech seller's feedback profile pages before buying from them.
Too bad ebay hands out the TRS badge the way it does. I have 17 years of 100% selling feedback from two selling IDs, but lost my TRS status because I cut down on the numbers of listings I've posted in the last year. So seeing chinese ripoffs with 97% ratings, with over a thousand non-positives being a TRS grates my cheese.
