Newbie needs button identification

I want to include this button on a craft project I intend selling on eBay. Please let me know what it is, value, vintage, etc. Will I lessen its value significantly by using it on my project? If it is vintage or such, can I ask for more in my starting price? It is almost 1 3/4" wide, of a medium weight, I think, and appears to be some kind of plastic. Are the photo albums updated with views, so any further identification questions I might have can be addressed? Thanks for your helps! :-) Jacqueline

Pretty sure this is a celluloid button. Sad to say, I think it's seen better days. High heat storage and storage with other materials, particularly metals or put in an airtight container will ruin celluloids quickly. This could also be a type which was really made that way, sort of an odd designer button. Still think it's celluloid though, designer or not.

I also think it might be celluloid..a good close up of the back might tip it for sure! I think it looks like a crater on the moon...but Im sure the designer was not perhaps thinking of that at all...as a matter of fact he might have been sleeping when it was designed and a piece of gum fell out of his mouth and he poked a couple holes in it - 😉 Probably from the 1950-1960 period.

I have two identical buttons. I will have them posted with a mixed group of buttons for auction in a few days. I think that they are a polymer possibly nylon. After testing with a hot needle I found a black spot ,no oder and jagged residue around the hole. The pin penetrated easily with slight vibration.
