seller changed bid from free shipping to adding shipping charges after I won the bid (6.99)

Seller added shipping charges to an item I won on a bid after the bidding was over.  I no longer want the item. What should I do.  This seller apparently has done this to others in the past.

Do you mean they sent you an invoice that does not match the shipping terms on the listing?  Or they are asking you thru eBay messages? I'm not sure how they added shipping charges.

Ebay software will not let a seller change a listing in any way once the listing is closed so I seriously doubt the seller changed it.

There have been reports in the past of items being shown on the phone app incorrectly with free shipping while viewing the item on a computer shows the correct shipping charge.   Perhaps that is what you are seeing?   What was the listing number?

At this point all you can do is message the seller and ask him to cancel the sale.   The seller is not required to but he may anyway.   If he doesn't cancel your choices are to either pay anyway or else not pay and take the non-payer strike on your account.

Oh no, you are incorrect about that. oh yes they can, because it has happened to me several times and it's happening to me right now! That's why I'm here right now is looking for help with the problem I'm having with a seller doing this to me and it's going to mess up my ability to make bids and other stores. And then they're choosing what I can purchase and what I can't purchase and not let me purchase the ones I want it very low because it's so unfair and wrong

This has happened to me time and time again. I don't never be on anything unless it says free shipping and then I win things a really low price sometimes just one cent and this one group of sellers keep adding High shipping costs when I do win and some of the items they won't let me purchase they got more paid but I didn't pay and it don't even look like a regular invoice. It's so confusing and then I can't be in other stores cuz I've had bids I didn't pay for, it's so wrong! Very unethical and unprofessional. It's not my fault no one else maybe it's in their store and now I know why they didn't, evidently they're not honest. And eBay won't do a darn thing about it

@bkoopa

This thread is almost 2 years old.

However.

Can you provide the item number of the purchase in question?  That way I can look it up and see how its listed?

There is no easy way for a seller to add costs after the sale is complete.  The only way that I know of would be to send an invoice and add costs there, but it would have to be before you paid for the item.  Once paid its locked from the seller adding fees afterward.

Now, its far more common for you to not see the shipping costs that are probably there, and then they get added once the item was won and eBay sends you the invoice. (not the seller)

It would be very easy to overlook shipping costs in these cases.  This is why I want to review the item number for the item you purchased to review its shipping information.

You also need some common sense.

If you won a bid for, as you stated, a cent, how could the seller possibly ship it for free??????   I mean, think about that.
