Have an emergency plan in place.

Find a buddy who can either take over your business or achieve closure temporarily or permanently. Make sure your family or friends know what to do with your books if you get hit by a truck.

I don't know how this old hint has fared with the passage of time; they might still be worth picking up.

"You are greater than you know."

Believe it or not, it is possible to look at a row of books and see the best book on the shelf in a split second. Before you even consciously read the title. This is possible because your subconscious intuition can be stronger than your surface thinking. A good feel for books is invaluable.

If you can't get out-- scout yourself. I've found many a semi-precious nugget lying forgotten and neglected on a back shelf at my own house.

in re LGB:

All good, inmy experience (none with stamp books).

But slow.

My first printings of Prayers for Children has depreciated since Aleph Bet sold theirs. Mine was in slightly better condition--I had to drop the price by 2/3 to meet the market. I will withdraw it before much longer and seek a better venu.

Thanks for posting a new hint!

I generally just fly through here and don't read much... so this is the first time I noticed.

It's helpful to know the future.

What is next going to sell on eBay, see books with dust jackets with 1 bid, sorted by Time, ending soonest.
