undeserved defect

Sold 4 books. After the buyer paid he contacted me for local pickup. Met his wife and gave her the books. She gave me cash and said they preferred to pay that way. Got home and sent a refund for the payment made thru paypal. Now eBay has 3 of these books listed as defects saying I canceled the sales due to "out of stock or damaged". This is not the case - the buyer received the books. Requested removal of defects and eBay denied the request because it wasn't for one of the reasons listed. None of the listed reasons fit this situation. Tried to contact eBay and can only get the moronic automated assistant that keeps telling me to file a return with the seller. When I tell it that I AM the seller - it just repeats itself. Can't find the option to have eBay call me.

You have no proof of tracking to show they were delivered.  Your listing was not set up as local pick-up.  Once you refunded, it looks like you cancelled the sales.  I really don't know if you can do anything about the defects.  In the future, just ship the items to save this hassle.
