I changed the name of my ebay store from "Big Daves Deals" to "Blue Door Deals". However, my store url stayed https://www.ebay.com/str/bigdavesdeals
For advertising purposes I would like the url to change to https://www.ebay.com/str/bluedoordeals.
Ebay reps have not been helpful.

@bluedoordeals Let me try tagging a fellow mentor if they are around...
@shipscript I think you talked about how this worked before... but I didn't bookmark it and need a refresher course.
If I remember right it just takes time for google to update? Or is there something that a seller can do?

The only way to change the URL for your store is to close the old store and open a new store with the new name. Unfortunately, you have already assigned your new name, so now you are stuck in a 30 day waiting period.
First, decide when you would like to close your store so that you don't incur an early termination fee. When you close your store, your active items will remain active, but without a store.
Here is the gotcha. When you close a store, eBay will hold that name for 30 days in case you change your mind and want to reopen the store. That means you'll need some fancy footwork for 30 days.
1) You can close your current store (Blue Door Deals) with the wrong URL, and wait 30 days. That store name will then be available to anyone. When you open a new store (Blue Door Deals) 30 days after it was closed, the new URL will be created for that new store.
2) If you don't want to be without a store for 30 days, you can change your store to some no-name you don't want. Run your no-name store for 30 days while waiting for Blue Door Deals to become available. Then close your no-name store and open Blue Door Deals, which will carry the correct URL.
When you open a new store, your listings will automatically import, but you will need to reassign them to store categories.

Thank you for your help.

Thank you so much for this well explained answer. Will my selling history follow me to my new store? For example, my reviews, ratings, etc.
And do I assume correctly that my current followers would need to re-follow me for each step?
Any other pitfalls I may want to avoid.

• Your feedback will follow you, with or without a store, as it is linked to the seller, not the store.
• Followers track the seller, not the store.
• Watchers on your listings won't lose track of those items, as long as the listings continue to run.
I don't know the status of a store newsletter. As far as I know, only a store can send a newsletter. The ability to opt in or out of a newsletter is attached to a saved seller, regardless of whether the seller has a store, so I think that setting might remain if you closed your store and opened a new one. I'll ask elizabeth@ebay for clarification.

Hi @shipscript & @bluedoordeals! We've received an answer for this below from the Stores Team:
"The followers list and the email marketing history will both be lost if a seller closes their store and then later opens a new one on the same user account. We are aware that the inability to easily change the Store URL is understood to be a big inconvenience for sellers. The desire to resolve this is there, it’s just not a fix that can be implemented quickly."

Edit:
Hi @shipscript & @bluedoordeals. We've received some updated and corrected info about this from the Stores Team. Please see below:
"The followers are associated at the account level, not to the store itself so they would remain even after a store closes and re-opens. Further, all records of marketing emails sent is retained even after a store is closed and reopened. Here’s more info:
When you close your store:
Users follow other Users, not stores so there should be no impact if the user does not delete their account. Both newsletter history and metrics will be there unless the seller deletes their ebay account."
Our apologies for the confusion there.

Circling back to this over a year later. I would like to change bystore url from str/bigdavesdeals to str/bluedoordeals which is the true name of my business. BlueDoorDeals is currently available. If I close my old store and open a new one named BlueDoorDeals will my seller feedback follow me? Thanks so much.

Your feedback continues to follow you.

Seller feedback belongs to the seller account, not to the store. It will remain if you close the store.
I'm not sure if simply removing the spaces from your store name is considered a new store name. When eBay creates the URL, they remove spaces and punctuation from the store name.
Examples:
https://www.ebay.com/str/theshoppingmomsgreatdeals
https://www.ebay.com/str/mariescraftycraftsandmore
https://www.ebay.com/str/avarietyshop
