You or someone else was trying to log into your account. If you did not try to log in and did not have a prompt on-screen to enter that code, someone else may know your password, though that security code may have prevented them from actually gaining access to your account. I would strongly advise you to change your password for your eBay account, and check to make sure you do not see anything suspicious in your email or anywhere else.
