My computer was hijacked by "cons" who said my computer was blocked because of Pornography use....when I denied this charge they said I had to pay them $400.00 for software to prevent this from happening again and warned me no9t to turn off or reboot my computer because I would lose everything on my hard drive. I needed my computer to work so when the "con" instructed me to go purchase two $200.00 E-Bay gift cards to send to him I desperately went to CVS and bought the two $200 E-Bay gift cards.
In the meantime my son who is in college looked into it and said that it was a scam and to go ahead and turn off and reboot my computer and not to worry about losing all my data if I did. My son was right, it was a scam but now I have two @$00.00 E-Bay gift cards that I have been trying for months to liquidate back to cash. The only source I found was some Nigerian firm that said they would take 10% fee and return the rest. Why is it so hard to contact E-Bay for help in this scam.....

eBay gift cards are non refundable and cannot be converted to cash.
You can try to buy some items on eBay with the cards.

To add to what the previous poster mentioned, at least you still have the funds. We hear all the time from people who, in one scam or another, give the codes on the cards to the scammers, and are left with nothing, and at that point they are left with nothing. At least you don’t have a total loss.
