"Report an item" seems useless

I've reported incorrectly listed items in the past and never gotten feedback, which is fine. Lately, however, I'm getting emails from ebay's AI system that say "Nope, nothing wrong!" when clearly it's in the wrong category. I look through "Card Games-Vintage" every day, and the two latest "no you're wrong it's fine" items have been a small statue of a woman holding a fan and a photo "OLD PHOTO 1890 ORDER OF MALTA PALACE OF THE GRAND MASTERS SUPREME COUNCIL".

Does anyone else bother reporting items in the wrong category, and if so, are you getting the same useless responses?

It is possible that the AI is not correctly identifying the issue, but the report may still be getting human attention despite that, so I would not give up on reporting items just yet.

Hi @pjbrady47

I probably would contact the SELLER if I noticed an item listed in the obviously wrong category.

Hi @house*of*paws , I've contacted sellers in the past and either gotten no response or a "mind your own business" message. I'm getting discouraged.

I usually start off by saying, “I hope you don’t mind the contact, but I happened to notice that …. “ and then explain the error.

I’ve always gotten a good … sometimes grateful … response if I was careful not to sound critical or condescending.
