Did you mean:

purchase was not useable and obviously broken

I recently purchased an item from a so called new seller. The shipping cost was way higher than normal, but the photos showed the item from all angles, except for the damage. When the item arrived, it took me nearly an hour to unpack it, and it was a fairly light item. That's when I learned it was unuseable.  The seller stated "No Refund" but no mention was made of how broken the item was.  It's my own fault for trusting, as I believed that when something like that was purchased, I assumed it would be okay to use and in working condition. It cost over a hundred dollars and the shipping was more than the item. Is this a "buyer beware" moment or was I too trusting. I've bought on ebay for many years and this is a first for me.

If an item is not as described it can be returned at the seller's expense for a full refund.

The seller's "no return" policy does not mean that the seller is not obligated to provide a refund.

You have thirty days from receipt of the item to file a "not as described" case.

If the seller does not cooperate and refund you or provide a prepaid return label or pay for shipping, you should be able to ask eBay to step in after three business days and force a refund. You have up to 21 business days to ask eBay to step in once a case has been started.
