We all misplace or mis-sort items from time to time. It's especially frustrating when it's a one-of-a-kind item, so the order must be cancelled. I wonder sometimes if orders do not get paid for and then relisted, if this has a lot to do with mis-placed items because they have a new location.
Does anyone know if there is a record of an item before it was relisted with a new upload date and a new i.d. #? So that you can use the previous location.

If you have to file a Cancellation on an item, I believe it can be accessed for up to 90 days if using Seller Hub. After that time, the original listing is gone, and you will have to start from scratch. Hopefully, you still have the photos so they don't have to be retaken.

I would think whether your problem is more to do with your inventory system than anything else. My inventory is categorized by item type and not by eBay item #.
eBay stores your listings for 90 days, so there may be no previous listing # to refer to.
There are many ways to manage your inventory, but one thing you could do is use the Custom Label field to add the information about where the item is stored right to the listing. If you move the item for some reason, update the Custom Label.

Seller Hub > Orders > All orders
If the transaction was cancelled in the past 90 days you will see Cancelled to the left of the item, whereas others will state Delivered.
