There are several sellers listing ceramics under the Heading Eva Zeisel. All of the listings I am talking about are from The Schramberg Company and date to the 20's and 30's. The line is referred to as "Goblin" (long O) wear. Ms. Zeisel stated before her death that she did not work on the Goblin line. She did love the bizarre decorations (squiggles, things that look like the evil eye). However, she stressed they were not hers.
Ms. Zeisel designed the form not the decoration. Much of her more familiar work can be found in her mid-century work for American companies like Russel Wright. Examples of her early work, that still exists, is often in museums and other famous collections. That is not to say that they don't make it on EBAY. There is one authentic piece listed currently (the rest currently listed from the early period ARE NOT authentic Zeisel pieces) It is just that the name Eva Zeisel on items insures a premium. Just be sure and ask the seller ...How the can attribute the piece to Zeisel? I hope that the sellers are just ignorant and not deceptive. TO THE BUYER BEWARE.
