legitimate buyer check

hi I would like to know if a buyer who has recently contacted me with an offer is legitimate. How can I do so. I have tried to contact eBay support by phone, though with know progress... Thanks...

The buyer has to make the offer from the listing, not through a message.

When they make an official offer on Ebay, you can either accept, decline or counteroffer. If they do not pay after 4 days, you can cancel the transaction due to "buyer didn't pay".
