item was received damaged . how can i claim with ups

how can i refund buyer  and   claim the shipper for  the damage . do i need to have the item returned to the seller

Do not have the item returned to you.  Have the buyer keep the damaged item and all of the packaging.  Make sure the buyer sends you photos of the damaged item, the inner packaging, the shipping label, and the outer box.

When the buyer files the Returns Request for a damaged item, you will click to refund the buyer.  Then you file an insurance claim with UPS, uploading the photos the buyer sent you.  If UPS accepts the claim, they will send you a check.
