hi, i have several unused usps labels that I purchased through ebay, but ended up not using. It has been more than 7 days for a couple of them. How do I request a refund from ebay.

With all due respect , you are incorrect. Ebay has the main usps shipping account. All of the labels we purchase are under ebay's master commercial account. However , each seller is a sub user of the main account. When a seller purchases a label. ebay immediately takes the money from the seller account or available funds. All of those funds are accrued in ebays shipping account and at some interval , ebay sends over the money to usps.

Ebay's volume (all of ebay sellers) entitles the shipping account to the maximum discounts.

Additionally, All return shipping labels are charged to the seller at the same price as the original outgoing price, but the usps does not charge the same price for return shipping labels. Ebay does not pass on this discount to sellers.

Additionally, The upsp on their own website has the standard refund policy of 30 days for unused labels. That's what is published. I'm sure a large customer could negotiate a more lenient policy.

Writing a simple computer program to search all labels purchased by sellers but never used would provide ebay with the total unused labels. Ebay then would submit this to the usps and upon computer verification on usps side, the refund would be sent to ebay's master account.

Ebay only giving sellers 5 days to void. ensures that when ebay runs the biweekly or monthly program to provide ebay with all unused , but purchased labels. Ebay can then submit that list to usps for refund.

That's how it works.. or something very similar.

In answer to my original question. I just got off the phone with ebay. Here is the answer to my question for anyone else that has searched for this info. Call ebay and request a credit for several unused usps labels that you did not use and for various reason did not void them within the 5 days that the system allows you to do it automatically. The representative then asked me for the order number corresponding to the unused labels. I pulled up my orders list for the last 90 days. Starting from nov 22, I scanned the column for orders that have not been delivered and or canceled. I then clicked on the associated tracking number and if it also showed that the item never shipped , i read the order number to the ebay rep. She then verified it was unused and then canceled the label and submitted for a refund. It took about 10 minutes . she called out the corresponding amount of the label for me so i could keep records. at the end.. I had 9 labels that I had purchased and paid for but that have never been used. The total cost of those 9 labels was 136.73. The representative confirmed the refund will be issued within 24 to 48 hours. each refund will be credited to my account as a line item.

Hope this helps.. these unused labels can really add up. As I stated , If i am within the 5 days, I always cancel the label online. However, I usually print numerous labels at a time. I don't always realize a label didn't print . Or A label printed on another label because of a jam. or sometimes when i go to ship, i can't find the label. I realize this is an inefficiency in process. However, that does not negate the right to receive a refund for unused labels.

You have to VOID USPS labels within 5 days for a refund from USPS, eBay doesn't refund labels.

How long you have to void a shipping label depends on the shipping service you used.

USPS: You have 5 days to void a USPS shipping label that you printed on eBay, and it can take up to 21 days for USPS to approve or reject the refund. If it's approved, you'll receive an email that you have been refunded
UPS: UPS labels can't be voided as you won't be charged until the package has been delivered
FedEx: FedEx labels can't be voided because you're not charged until the package has been delivered

Here's how to void a shipping label you printed on eBay:

Go to Manage shipping labels - opens in new window or tab.
Find the item you'd like to void the shipping label for, then from the Actions column, select More Actions, and then select Void.
Choose your reason for voiding the label. If you want to, you can add a message for the buyer.
Select Void shipping label.

Thank you. I was aware of the listed procedure to void labels within 5 days.

However, ebay can not refuse to refund on unused labels. I always try to submit void requests within the time frame. However, consumer protection laws prevale here. Unless there is clear notice at the time of purchase that no refunds will be given on the purchase whether used or not. Then consumers are due a refund.

I guarantee you, Ebay is refunded by USPS for unused labels. Usps is required to refund unused labels.

the USPS policy is 30 days any unused label will be refunded to the postal account.

eBay doesn't receive any $ for labels printed here, the payment goes to USPS; that's why you have to Void and request a refund through USPS. The refund comes from USPS, not from eBay.

Anyway I'm not going to get into a legal argument with you.

You are welcome to take it up with eBay CS directly, maybe they will give a courtesy refund.

Click on "Contact us"
In the Help Chatbot that opens type AGENT in the reply box then press Send to bypass the bots
You should get the options to Chat with agent, or have them call you.

Ebay doesn't refund USPS shipping labels, the USPS does.

If you are aware that you only have 5 days on Ebay to void the label, you know that it's to late to get them refunded.

No they don't, they have an account with FedEx and UPS.

usps has a 30 days refund policy for unused labels.

As i stated , I called ebay today, the representative refunded my unused labels no problem. I was organized and was able to give her the order number for each of the unused labels.
