I am trying to figure out how to get a lower shipping cost on a light weight small padded envelope. 4x7 and less than an inch thick - only 6 ounces. I can't find a standard envelope option in my ad draft. And when I do a calculate postage, it requires me to enter at least 1" thick and the amounts are way over the standard usps rates. And it only shows ground, media, and priority. I must be doing something wrong. I would like to offer reasonable shipping rates. Is it impossible to purchase thru e-bay sellers when I send and I need to purchase direct through USPS and drop-off in person? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

For the envelope you described you need to select custom packaging, and then select first class package, entering the weight and dimensions. The retail rate would be in the neighborhood of $6.00, but we pay the commercial rate.
The ebay standard envelope is for trading cards, postcards, stamps, currency & coin, limited to 3 ounces and $20 in value.
Padded envelopes are considered first class package by the post office. I learned that when I tried to send my documents to my tax preparer a few years ago.

When I am in Calculate Shipping, Enter Shipping Details, I only see Envelope, Large Envelope, Package and Large Package?
