If you don't like the price, then don't buy the item.
You can only be gouged if you want to be.

Price gouging only applies to items deemed essential during a declared emergency. eBay monitors such items closely, so there is really nothing to report. There was a reporting category for price gouging during the pandemic, but it is no longer available with the move to the new reporting system.
If not an essential item, sellers are free to ask any price they can dream up.

If a seller practices price gouging, they are taking advantage of people. As a business owner, I would never do this. My asking this question was to try to protect buyers who might not know they were being taken advantage of. Your reply was not helpful and at the least, c/rude.

I didn't think @wooden_flower 's reply was rude at all. She explained ebay's policy on "gouging". There is no gouging going on if the seller is not selling essential items needed in an emergency, such as bottled water. Otherwise, the seller can ask whatever price s/he wants. If buyers think it is too much, they will not make the purchase.
