I am trying to attach a letter in pdf format to a message for a seller verifying I did not receive a package. So far I have been able to type the message but unable to attach a supporting document. Thanks.

Only jpeg files can be attached to Messages, not pdf.
Take a photo of the letter and attach it that way.
