help understanding the shipping and payment process

I sold my computer, but I added shipping based on estimates I had not realizing that ebay is asking for me to purchase a shipping label. Does this mean that I get the shipping flat rate as part of my sell?

The buyer pays you the shipping cost shown on the item listing and you purchase a shipping label. If you know the size and weight of the package, you can purchase a label through eBay (at a discount) or you can purchase your label when you take it to the carrier for shipping.

The buyer pays what you put in the listing.

If you can accurately weight and measure the package to be shipped, you can create a label through eBay - but not for retail ground. Retail ground = pay at PO.

If not, handwrite the address on the package, and go to your PO to pay for postage.  Either way, be sure to add signature confirmation - is is required over $750.  I would also add insurance.

Thank you. That was my concern is that it's far more than what ebay is asking me to purchase.

If you estimated a shipping cost instead of setting up calculated shipping (based on size and weight so that the buyer would pay the correct cost to his shipping zone) then you may have undercharged your buyer. If that's the case, unfortunately, you will have to cover the difference. You cannot charge the buyer more after the sale.

You can always give the buyer a little refund.  I thought $55 looked like a lot for a Macbook.  But remember - you need to add signature and insurance, so wait until after you buy the postage before giving a refund.

I bet you could send priority instead of parcel and still give a little refund.  Then you'd have a very happy buyer 🙂
