eBay Standard Envelopes - USPS doesn't scan even them!

The eBay Standard Envelope seems like a great idea but someone needs to tell the USPS about it! eBay also needs to understand that the USPS is NOT scanning them, so the tracking for these items should not be counted towards the seller's shipping and handling times.

The USPS is simply NOT scanning these. I am getting positive feedback from buyers on their purchases while the tracking info with USPS  is still in the initial "Tracking Provided" position. Other buyers are complaining because in their mind if the tracking isn't tracking then I haven't actually shipped anything yet!

In order to be and maintain Top Rated seller status, you need to have all of your tracking info in and tracking on time. When the USPS is not tracking items correctly,  the seller loses. This is currently happening to me during the current period. eBay extended the period but with another batch of non-scanned trackable items, I lose again.

This is extremely frustrating.

Are others experiencing similar problems? If so, how do we take action?

Fwiw, I am selling sports trading cards.

This is a common problem because the ESUS scan codes are proprietary to eBay. The local clerks at the receiving and delivery ends are not able to scan the codes. Only the major sorting hubs between are able to read the ESUS scan codes.

It sounds like you may not be near a major sorting hub that has that equipment, so the envelopes are not entering the parallel tracking system.

One buyer reported that trading cards using the ESUS codes took an entirely different, and less direct, route than cards sent first class package from the same seller. That is because once the ESUS tracked items entered the system, they were routed through other hubs that could also read the numbers.

eBay staff has stated that sellers who use eBay Envelope labels, which may not always track, do so at their own risk of losing top-rated seller status.

There is a little more tracking detail on this site, which can sometimes assuage buyers:

Usually, the complaint is that tracking shows the item as "delivered" or "out for delivery", and it doesn't actually arrive until a few days later. That is because the last major hub estimates the delivery and then puts the package back into the local delivery system, which may or may not meet that estimate.
