This feature has no practical significance for me personally, because I always leave feedback for my purchases. Always. But it's easy to think of hypothetical instances where a buyer simply might want to choose not to leave any feedback at all.
I don't remember ever seeing any automated feedback. I wonder the "From" column on the feedback page would say.

I have seen a few Buying accounts that have the same identical FB left for many purchases. One NEGATIVE change eBay made on leaving FB is the loss of the auto-typed FB by Members. I brought this up when this change was made and was missed on the rollout but here we are months and months down the road and it has NOT been fixed.
I think dropping that was - is intentional for some strange reason and perhaps the whole push for automated FB might be the ultimate reason ... meaning eBay is intentionally making it hard to leave custom FB so that Members will eventually just cave and set up the auto-FB.
That last statement in their description to me is a little confusing ... it means Buyers can override the auto-FB. Wonder how that works and how long they have to do that ... funny none of those details were included which would be very important.
