So I created my first listing last night and when I went to see this morning, it doesn't have the price I set. Can Ebay just lower the price without telling the seller right from the start?

I don't see any listings that are live.
In answer to your question, no eBay doesn't edit the listing prices without permission.
(If you listed something as an Auction for say $10 with a buy it now of $50, once you get a bid of $10, the buy it now is gone.)
Is your listing a draft? or Is your listing active on eBay?
If your listing is active you will need to revise it to change -- .
-- You can't revise the listing if there is an Auction Bid or an outstanding Best Offer (including Counteroffer or Offer to Watchers) on the listing.

@h1mackbay Be careful when listing your items as eBay will have a suggested price AND also the option set to lower the price every 7 days until the item sells. You can turn these options off.
Go to your listing and select Revise and update the price and turn off any auto price reduction settings.
OR if you use the advanced listing tool in Seller Hub on a computer you won't see those options at this time>

Thanks for the help folks. I had gotten so angry I ended the listing. but with y'alls responses I went back and figured out where I went wrong and relisted it. Part of the problem being Ebay doesn't really understand what they are and don't have a category for them. They are not just running boards, they are specifically engineered rockrails which sell for $1750 new.
But I got it figured out good enough with y'alls comment. And I'm always willing to listen to any other advice you might have.
Thanks!
