combining shipping charges

A buyer wants to purchase 5 of my items. I’ll put them in one box and have a single shipping charge.  Does the buyer have to purchase them first and then I adjust shipping? I thought I was supposed to tell her to go the the cart and press “request invoice” but buyer gets “can’t request an invoice on items that require i mediate payment. I have adjusted my account to accept combined payments, but not sure how to do this sale. Thanks for any help you can offer

combining shipping charges

You could revise your listings so that immediate payment is not required. Then the buyer could put the items in their cart and request a combined invoice.

Or the buyer can go ahead and buy the five items. You can them combine shipping and refund them the difference in the shipping amount.
